Temporary van cover has many advantages over a conventional, long-term annual insurance policy.
The benefits of temp van cover include:
- Faster than conventional insurance – Some annual policies take a while to process, leaving you waiting longer than you should get on the road. With temporary van insurance from Veygo, you’re covered as soon as you’re approved.
- Only pay for what you need – With an annual policy, it can feel like you’re paying to insure a van that’s not being used. With temporary insurance, you can get hourly, one day, weekly, or monthly insurance depending on your need, only paying for the hours you use the van.
- Your policy is your own – Should you be insured on a friend’s van and get into an accident, it won’t affect their no claims bonus.
- Borrow vehicles effortlessly – With quick, value-for-money quotes, you can get on the road in no time, no matter the situation. With Veygo, you can also enjoy zero cancellation fees. You can amend, cancel or switch your policy at any time and not be penalised.
How much does temporary van insurance cost?
With Veygo, temporary van insurance coverage starts from as little as £4.48 for an hour, £9.52 for one day, or £81.76 for a month.
The flexibility of short-term van insurance means you can chose the length, of the policy to suit you – from one hour up to 60 days. so, you’re not paying for coverage you don’t need.
What is covered with temporary van insurance?
All our policies come with fully comprehensive coverage as standard. However, with our temporary van cover, it does come with certain conditions. These are:
What's covered:
Personal items up to the value of £150
Accidental damage to your van
Damage cause by theft or attempted theft/vandalism/fire
Windscreen damage
In the event of lost/stolen key - we will contribute towards a full lock replacement
What's not covered:
- General wear and tear
- Drivers renting out the van or using it as taxi service run the risk of a voided policy in the event of an accident

- Any engine damage caused by putting the wrong fuel in the tank
- If you leave the van unattended with the keys in the ignition when an incident occurs

Illegal practices also contravene our insurance regulations. Your policy will be void if you’re found to be:
- Driving without a licence.
- Driving under the influence of drugs, and or alcohol.
- Intentionally damaging a vehicle and causing reckless damage.
- Using a van when unauthorised to do so.

However, if you’re between the ages of 21 and 23, you must have held a driving licence for at least six months to insure your own van.

To give you peace of mind that you shouldn’t get pulled over for supposedly driving without insurance – yes, temporary cover shows up on askMID. But it can take up to a week for the cover to show on the Motor Insurance Database.
There should already be an annual insurance policy on the van if it’s a learner driver policy, or if you’re sharing a friend or family member’s van. All private vehicles need to be fully insured, and if there isn’t an annual policy in place, your cover won’t be valid. If that’s the case, please get in touch at contact@veygo.com to cancel.
