Hard acceleration measures the rate at which you accelerate during a trip – that is, how quickly you shift from a lower speed to a higher speed.

Circumstances like merging into fast-moving traffic can make hard acceleration unavoidable at times, and rare occurrences should not affect your score. If you are frequently marked for hard acceleration, however, it will reduce your score.
